Kickstart Karate

The overall mission of KICKSTART is to change and save children’s lives. Resiliency is enhanced through the values and philosophies taught through the Martial Arts.

KICKSTART'S primary goal is to reach city youth. However, we have many programs in suburban areas to ensure that we meet the needs of students in various environments. Our program generally begins in the sixth grade and is continued throughout middle school. After graduating middle school the students are encouraged to enroll in one of the after school programs offered to high school students.

Hogg’s Kickstart Karate program is led by Four-Time World Champion Rigoberto Cardenas. Mr. Cardenas is himself a product of Kickstart Karate and a Hogg alumni. He understands the value and ethics taught by Kickstart Karate and works hard to instill these in his own students. Karate meets during the school day at Hogg, and during after school. Hogg karate kids attend tournaments regularly and prove they are among the best around. Kickstart Karate is open to anyone who attends Hogg Middle School, and students are able to continue attending when they are in high school. We are proud to have such an awesome program on our campus.
